While visiting Nevis you will definitely want to stop at Sunshine's for a relaxing lunch or dinner. Sunshine's
has a wonderful menu consisting of fresh grilled lobster, chicken, fish, shrimp or ribs. While waiting for your food to be served, all cooked to perfection, don't forget to try a "Killer Bee", Sunshine's special
rum drink! While enjoying your meal, you will be able to enjoy some great music...jazz, blues, reggae, rock and classical. A Bit About Sunshine's
Sunshine is originally from St. Kitts, where he was employed by the Royal St. Kitts golf course as a caddy. He then went on to become a lifeguard there as well.
Sunshine has always had a love of cooking, and was working with a local tour company catering beach parties. He would be dropped off at Pinney's Beach in Nevis where with a grill and a cooler of beers, he would
wait for the group of guests. The Four Seasons Hotel was under construction at the time, and more often than not, the construction workers would come over to Sunshine and ask
him to sell them beer and food. Never one to miss a good business opportunity, Sunshine started bringing extra beers and food to sell. Alas the hotel was completed, and Sunshine was asked to move, as The
Four Season's didn't like the competition. Sunshine not missing a trick set up the beach bar right next to the Four Seasons Hotel! However it was two long years before he got his first guest from the
touristy hotel next door. Over the years Sunshine's Beach Bar & Grill has burned down twice, and was destroyed by hurricanes 6 times, most recently Hurricane Lenny in November
1999. Every time, Sunshine has rebuilt - bigger and better! Through the years thousands of visitors to Nevis have made their way down to Sunshine's including the likes of hockey player Wayne Gretzky, Led
Zeppelin's singer Robert Plant, and actress/comedienne Tracey Ullman.....just to drop a few names! Sunshine is there seven days a week, open for lunch
and dinner during the high season (roughly mid October to mid April), and dinner with a reservation during low season. There are nightly bonfires, and on the full moon of every month
"The Full Moon Bash". This is an event not to be missed! Oh yeah, lest I forget, Sunshine's can accommodate groups of 75 or more at the beach bar....given advance notice. By the way if you are sailing
in the area, you can reach Sunshine on your VHF at channel 16. This season Sunshine will have fresh fruit and vegetables available for all of you mariner types as well as trash removal. |
