While visiting Nevis, you will be sure to want to take sustenance at least once at Mt. Nevis Hotel's fine
restaurant. Aside from their wonderful menu, they have some of the best views of the sea and St. Kitts from anywhere on Nevis. Lunch time here is especially beautiful, situated several hundred feet up
the mountain the cooling breezes help to temper the heat the midday heat while you look out on the relaxing views. The birds on the terrace are so tame that they will actually join you for lunch on occasion.
Don't worry though they are very small and cute. They don't eat much either. While I have had many lunches and dinners here, I really prefer having lunch at Mt. Nevis over dinner.
First off the views are better during the day, and secondly it is a bit more informal. Not that a coat is required at night, but I sure would feel out of place with one.
The menu is
diverse and the chef knows how to make good use of the local food sources with continental influences. A typical meal might consist of Chilled Gazpacho with Papaya Guacamole for a first course, followed by Lobster
Kabobs with Grilled Pineapple, Curry & Saffron as an entree, and all topped off with Tropical Charlotte Cake with Raspberry Sauce for your afters.
Mt. Nevis Hotel's restaurant is very
tastefully decorated and the food is prepared beautifully, however be prepared to pay for it too. While not the most expensive restaurant on Nevis it is right up there. This said though the dining experience
is worth the cost All in all, if you are looking for a restaurant with good food, nice atmosphere, and friendly service then you will want to consider dining here. You may consider making reservations for
dining in the evening. As far as I know they are open daily from mid morning till around 10:00 P.M.
P.S. My Mum says that they have the best lobster salad sandwiches on Nevis. You may want to consider a very
light jumper in the evening if you chill easily.
